Run as fast as you can

Run as fast as you can

A Poem by -S.
"

Attempting the Villanelle form

"
Run as fast as you can and I'll follow
no one else needs to know, we are leaving today
Save your worries and thoughts for tomorrow

There's nothing left for us here, only days that are hollow
I don't believe in the gods to whom they tell me to pray
Run as fast as you can and I'll follow

You get your time once, there's no more to borrow
'Use what you're given', that's what you always say
Save your worries and thoughts for tomorrow

We have nothing to lose, no more pride left to swallow
See their blank faces wiped by boredom's decay?
Run as fast as you can and I'll follow

Come and live the real tragedy, not Shakespearean sorrow
Leave the books and the rules, take my hand, go astray!
Save your worries and thoughts for tomorrow

They don't dream about new days, in nostalgia they wallow
You and I chase horizons; we will drown if we stay
Run as fast as you can and I'll follow
Save your worries and thoughts for tomorrow
