Greener Grass

 

Plenty

Of rainy days

Storms

And natural disasters

Went into producing

And growing

These greener pastures

 

Sowing good seeds

And plucking bad weeds

Down in the dirt

On my hands and knees

 

Fenced in

Locked in

To keep it all secure

Clipped, pruned, and well-manicured

 

With the strong stench of cow manure

 

From your backyard

My lawn

May be unbelievably green

But join me

On my porch for a drink

…it’s not as green as it seems

lends a whole new set of value and parameters to the old adage "the other man's grass is always greener"....this grass didn't get green all by itself, it took patience, time and hard work...come admire it from my side of the fence and see if you don't notice how it differs from the grass in your yard. Serenus, this write is genius. i love this!

Lawns are so damned overrated. All that energy and nutrient waste for a thing that is damaging to just about every natural construct it comes in contact with. A perfect metaphor maybe for how we dominate our will for the sake of appearances. How many of us look around from our own f___ed up life, envious of soemone else's different but probably equally f___ed up life, based on that facade? The lawn... perfect metaphor for hos together we want our neighbors to see us as. The wrapping on the neat little package.

This is why I rip out lawns and plant cottage gardens. :-)

Ah yes...I am loving your take on this old adage, the grass is always greener...I've always said just because my side of the fence may look greener than your side does not necessarily mean my ground water is not a cesspool ;-) I love the gardening references and the manure line xD Yup...I don't know why I never thought of it like that before, SR...it's brilliant and so are you. Thanks for sharing this with us, and I'm trying not to be such a stranger, but, like I said...real life sucks sometimes xD
