"Un answered prayers"

"Un answered prayers"

A Poem by Seuwandi

Kneeling down by the bedside
gazing at the thousand twinkling stars
hoping to see a true miracle
I pray, I pray, I pray

A little boy smiling
and a minute later, ailing
kafirs, bombers and iron domes
killing, rampaging once cozy homes

I stare at yonder
searching in mystique blue heavens high
the answer to an orphans cry
the answer to a mothers lament
holding the war tone body of an infant

Angry red and orange sparks on sky
shots to and fro ,low and high
cries of pain,cries for mercy
and I pray,I pray,I pray

Religious extremism in any religion and violence in the name of God should be rejected, condemned and banned by all. In every country , you hear about this and that; how some groups can't tolerate others and want to live in peace and harmony. I think all minorities should be protected and the majority should give a breathing space, justice and equality to others. We all want to live our lives, enjoy the fruits, fulfil our dreams and so forth...An excellent poem.

My heart dropped as I read this piece and know full well that this is how some poor people have to live, with the ever fearful threat of violence and death close at hand. We live in an increasingly intolerant world where regretfully religion can play its worse. The innocents suffer and the sorrow runs deep. A sad poem to read Seuwandi. Left its mark on me.
