I'm Proud Spinach

I'm Proud Spinach

A Poem by Shalini Dinesh (Poet's World)

Spinach ('',)

Hello I’m spinach greenly green,

With nutrients, minerals and oxidants,

Lot more of goodness is what I mean,

So thin, slender and smooth leaf,

Containing so much of goodness,

For all other greenies I’m the chief.

I hold loads and loads of vitamin A,

Will take care of your precious eyes

All through the years is what I say,

Will help your bones and to coagulate,

For I’ve got the rare one Vitamin K.

Add me to your everyday food in plate.

Fiber content, is also provided by me

Preventing various digestive problems,

Eat me often, and the benefits you’ll see,

I also have phytonutrients within me,

To reduce adverse cell division of cancer,

Munch me; healthy and fit you shall be.

For I’m spinach greenly green,

With nutrients, minerals and oxidants,

Lot more of goodness is what I mean,

So thin, slender and smooth leaf,

Containing so much of goodness,

For all other greenies I’m the chief.

Smiling and enjoying every bite! I do love to grow fresh in the garden, and you've let us know just why it's wondrous... Did watch Popeye when young and didn't really like it then... mum did it with vinegar poured all over.. lol.. Thanks for sharing all the goodness!

This was cute. An ode to spinach.

Eating healthy is the way to go and honestly, I would want to eat an spinach mushroom and swiss sandwich. It sounds pretty good right now. lol

Great poem for those out there.

You have received the "Popeye Award" in the "I Can Write About Anything" Contest. This was the highest award, in my mind. The research that you did, because I don't think that you knew these things off-hand, was wonderful. I love research, almost more than writing. Spinach is chief of the greenies and, so, your poem was chief.

I am starting the "I Can Write About Anything II" contest, today. I hope that you will join it!

I love spinach! It's so good, and this poem made me laugh. Very well done, but what made you come up with this idea? Very original, and I've never read a poem about spinach, but is that really surprising?

I love spinach. A few slices of bacon and some water. A very good meal and cleaner of the body. A entertaining poem. Spinach is a nice healthy food. Thank you for the excellent poem.

This was so cute. And, I never knew that much about spinach until reading this, although it doesn't change my opinion that I do not like it. The cartoon images were a nice touch. :]

So cute, I love the way you write about something as common as food and pack a whallop of a punch with Popeye. I wrote one about broccoli. Kinda' fun isn't it?
