Thoughts of a simple poet

Thoughts of a simple poet

A Poem by ShaunMosley

What does it mean…

You have a way with words?

I think myself a hack writer,

Toiling relentlessly to unlock or discover

Some profound combination of euphemisms, metaphors, and alliterations

That will somehow transcend common prose, and into your very soul inspire

But is it all done in vain?  My efforts are they for not? Am I wasting my life?

Life is short when measured against the infinite space of time

Einstein knew it was relative, but to whom or what?

What is a life wasted if spent writing, where words fail to ignite a spark

And set a heart on fire.

And what good is a fire that does not warm the flesh, or nourish the body

But to engulf you with desire.

Really deep pondering here, Shaun...I believe words can ignite a generation into action...so long as there is passion behind it, in any style of format. I enjoyed your introspection in this write. Nicely done.
