Lucky Dog

Lucky Dog

A Poem by Shawna
"

I had a thought of what one might go through had they won a large amount of money...and this story just came to life in my head.

"
Wanting to love, needing to love.
That's what she said.
Come with me, leave with me.
The words play in my head.
Pack your things, let's buy some rings.
And marry in a rush?
We'll have a time, a real good time.
All I can say is "hush".

You call me on the weekends when your time is surely free,
but it's mostly late at night when you start to think of me.
A second thought, a little puppy, scratching at your feet.
You even forgot our date and where we were supposed to meet.
So rush now and let's tie the knot to an everlasting love?
But where is this love you have found, all glorious from above.
Could it be that someone found something good in me,
and on this lucky day of days, I had won the lottery.
Yes, lucky as it may seem, I'm drowning in my new riches,
But now I can't seem to be free of all these fake b*****s.
Wanting more, needing more, can't get enough of me.
Thank you but I'll stick with my loyal dog, I'd rather clean up his pee.
