If Only

I wrote this for a friend of mine a while ago... She's a hopeless romantic, so she gets her heart broken WAY too much. I wrote her this to show her that I'm there for her if she ever needs me.

There's a young girl on the side of the road

She's sitting there, shivering in the cold

She's too wrapped up in her own world

To even notice everything's unfurled

 

If only I had been there

To catch her when she fell

I'd show her that I care

And hope that she would tell

 

If only I had been there

If only she knew why

Her world would fall apart

All she could do was cry

 

After all the pain

She stood up and left

To see what she had gained

But she just couldn't accept

 

I did my best to help her

But she wasn't ready to see

That no matter what occurred

She would always have me
