Maybe the guards are the kind of people who don't care about anyone else but themselves. All they want to do is lay in bed with their blood money.
Honest, but narcissistic.

you know, i never thought of it that way... you're totally right, though, somebody needed to speak up for those poor guards! good for you! :) this poem was definitely needed!
