Standing Stone

Standing Stone

A Poem by Einstein Noodle

the privacy of her expectations

kept
those things hidden tight
                  I
pushed them into compression locks, she
squeezing shut and squinted yet
still oozing her secrets; it
couldn't be helped

in hieroglyphic mazes we bleed our ignorance

Tell me darling!            Please!                    I beg

standing  stupor with a pick- shovel
and sifter ....shaking ... ever shaking
through the debris  to glimpse
some bit of
understanding

never settling
honestly ........... tombs of the ancients are an easier task

This is a deeply moving and personal journey written in a unique dramatic format- i can easily hear this as a spoken poem...a lover with the object of his love figuratively entombed by her secrets, expectations and emotional debris- and he trying to dig her out literally and figuratively. Brilliant metaphor. Eloquent and poignant words reveal unbearable
undercurrents of pain and frustration. I concur, a most formidable and long- suffering task to endeavor. I hope that luck, strength and infinite understanding prevail for this poor protagonist. Great write my friend!

This has a mixed emotional feel to it. Frustration and disappointment as the subject remains tightly stuck within a psychological cave and no matter the excavation attempts remains a mystery. Nicely penned Sir!

to release ourselves of all the secrets - the stuff we keep so close to our chest - is it that we fear the other will simply not understand, is it that we fear another judgement - ahh to live in a world where freedom means exactly that - freedom from thought ...

on the flip side - it keeps the mystery there, it means we will never ever truly know another complete, it gives us a chance to grow, learn, love and most of all accept each other just as we are ...

this is an interesting topic you have chosen here - humans - ah, we are a funny lot X

E, You are a pro at writing poetry! How vividly you describe the frustrations of a lover at the secrecy of her expectations! If she keeps her expectations hidden, that is because she doesn't want her expectations to become your limitations!

It's entirely my pleasure.
some people hide so well....had an ex like this...she just couldn't trust enough to open up...and when she finally left, her secrets went with her...interestingly we still see each other and talk on the phone at times...and now she is much ore open...and often says she wishes she hadn't been so angry and mistrusting back then...

As a person with tons of baggage buried deeply, I can very much relate to being on the receiving end of this message! I bet one or two of my suitors over the years were feeling a lot like this. Sometimes it's just a moth that cannot be captured *sigh!* Always love your unique way of describing universal situations (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
