Plastic

She swallows everything he throws her way,

forcing down the bile of disregard.

Coffee ground  brown 

drowning      -     oceans green. 

She denied belief in his sidebar glances.

How His calloused heart beat Her!

He cloaks up the Earth.

She swallows real hard.

Cut    -     ragged     -      frayed 

edges in the waters.

She beat against the lands with tidal influence.

No avail!

His tide 

His  Clorox and Tide refusing refuse negotiations.

He publishes poison.

She uses all Her wiles to wrap an embrace 

but its plastic after all.

She tools flowered vines and grasses

falling leaves and animal scent -     

tresses ripe golden wheat -

padding soft parts of her feet. 

          

Rising from slumber She sharpens claws

with a red morning sun.

Scratch marks appear like tracks of her tears.

She wants to purr -

- She hooks -

white orbs of migraine! 

A breakfast for Him! 

A warning.

i have read that too Dave! so weird and a bit frightening if you ask me. Beau thanks you sir .. and sending back to yours! The US wants to spend all the trillions but won't build the Waste management systems where they are needed. That amount of plastic in the oceans is degrading for all humanity. Somethin tangible we can't disagree on. love on ya brother... thanks so much for finding this to read and review. means a lot!

Oh...such brilliant use of metaphors here, dear E...This write stands out first and foremost for its vividness. The earth has such a lousy, mean and selfish lover! She swallows hard, she beats, she uses all her viles and tool but to no avail, it seems.

Loved just loved the artful use of plastic here! It says everything! And superb conclusion too...she uses the red morning sun to chasten him...and what awaits him is a warning...and a warming...

I love the picture you used...the litter and refuse near the sea and other water bodies never fails to raise my hackles.

Never was a more stunning poem written on the subject. A fabulous and fantastic read for me!

oh my goodness, Divya ... i am thoroughly humbled .. truly ... i don't know what to say but thank you for reading and taking my poem in the way you did .. and for your letting me know how you think and feel about it ... plastic is a big problem ... we could make a big difference if our more economically sound countries could pool resources to help third world countries manage waste it would be huge ... strides are being made but when we see the vast islands of plastic floating in our oceans ... it does and should raise hackles ... love ya girl! and thanks again for all your visits and reviews :)

And here is some good news...developing countries like India are slowly waking up to this environmental ogre and taking baby steps towards addressing it...like banning single-use plastic for good...I'm sure others too are taking note and formulating suitable measures...our earth needs more love.

a young inventor has a device that collects floating plastic in the ocean. where i live, plastic grocery bags are no longer allowed - must be paper (biodegradable) or you bring your own reusable (canvas) bag. also recently saw on t.v. that they're working on a biodegradable beer "bottle" to do away with glass ... :)

so it seems andrew ... and sadly so ... but there is hope and people are trying to find ways to help ... strange how there is nothing new ... ever ... on, in or around the Earth .. but we have found ways to alter Creation and produce very foreign things .. like plastics ... i agree with you about a tipping point ... it troubles the spirit ... as well it should i guess ... breath on my friend ... lets breath on :}

We are such a despicable race E (not you, just all of the thems), i sometimes wonder why nature just roll that boulder and lock us in before we escaped our caves and put the dolphins in charge.
Perhaps that is why sharks bite us to bits but never swallow. I bet we taste bloody disgusting and they only do it as payback for wrecking their home.
Inspiring and thought provoking as ever.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go live up a tree, before they evolve feet and really get payback 😀

:) ... yes .. a huge problem; but it is being worked on little by little ... Nations could join to put adequate waste disposal facilities in the Countries most egregious in offending ... and we can all do our bit to remove plastic and/or recycle ... i think the "thems" are so few comparativiely but do incredible harm on a continual basis >;[ thanks for taking time Lorry! always a treat to know your thoughts on me stuff :)

thanks Eugi ... people are working at it .. we can make changes both small and large that will help .. globally some of the worst polluters of plastics are third world countries that need upgraded waste management systems ... we all just need to work together .. stop using all the throw away plastic bags and bottles .. use recycling .. anyway .. didn't mean to jump on me pulpit ;} thanks you for spending time wandering me pages Eugi .. thank you very much!
