Firstly - oh my goodness :) Wow...E, this is so damn emotionally intense, the execution (as always) is of sheer brilliant conveyance. I read your poetry and can guarantee there will be several pauses along the way. I too paused at the line "what are you thinking right now"...wondering what the reply would be as I ventured further into will they stay or won't they and the finale in this...what can I say...gave me goosebumps! Excellent E, truly so :)

Despite some reviewers reading this as an event that might've happened to a pet/dog, I'm seeing it as a metaphor for those times when we feel like a dog, kicked in the face by the very headlights that had been lighting up our way. The last half of your poem is a powerful depiction using unusual imagery to convey the sense of how being beat up can feel, making us consider flight, but we stay & take it a little longer, & finally we have to accept defeat & flee the madness (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

This poem must be read a few times my friend. You create thoughts and you create vision. The perfect flow of words led the reader to the strong ending. This is poetry my friend. The reader can feel every statement.

I noticed the ploughed furrowed line a lot because I like to describe my husband's frowning forehead that way but your poem is too sublime and deep . Sounds wry and soulful. Kudos.
Plz pleez do read and comment my newest poem too.

Reminds me of a beloved Australian Sheep Dog who wanted to
climb onto your Lap and cuddle. He was grown and was adopted
as the family was no longer able to care for the poor orphan.
We often wonder... did he get too much affection or not enough.
I think he had a "Spell" cast on him when he was a Puppy...
"Never be alone"... always be close to someone". His name is 'Kinko'.

:)...................... you are forever Pat .. aren't you
Kind of real...most males have so much trouble communicating feelings.
He can't find the words, gets so uncomfortable, he finally just runs.
And she is left, stunned, perplexed...
wondering what happened---
I am probably opposite of this...I have to gush.
you capture this moment in a capsule that we are engaged to swallow...
and feel a sense of understanding about ourselves, or those we know who
just "run"!
so well done here.

this is a very deep thing poetically presented!!!
It often takes a 'man' not to turn and run but that isn't always the 'right' thing
At least that is what I consistently tell myself as I usually turn and run.
The 'high beams' and 'fallen dog face' is real good.
I've had lots of my little lovey things give me that super cute look.
Very enjoyable
