The Fragrances of Poetry

The Fragrances of Poetry

A Poem by Remanence
"

Poetry as the fragrances of life.

"
"Fragrance is everything: it is the relationship between you and your mind, you and other people, you and this world." ..  C. JoyBell C

Poems are the fragrances of life.
Of its pleasures and sorrows,
accomplishments and failures,
and of its freedom and of servitude.

It is the taste of the sea,
or the smell of the rain.
It is in the emotions of the weak
and of the strong.

Pleasant in the flavor of forgiveness,
bitter is the acts of brutality,
and stirring is the fragrance
of free people everywhere.

We hold our poets on high,
at least in our minds, for their ability
to phrase what we cannot,
and to express what we will not.

And never do we see that they are
but messengers of the fragrances of life,
those ones chosen from among the masses
to chronicle the human experience of every age.

The above lines stood out to me. The great writers bled to paper so we could see with their eyes. The fragrance of a great poem. Leave us with something to think about and to ponder. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry. I enjoyed this one.

Thank you. Hopefully the global culture will always have room for the poetic expression.
This is such an artful lilting message of inspiration to all writers! I agree that the reader's experience is like tasting the many fragrances of life. But also for the writer, the inspiration to write comes first like a fragrance, wafting around in a nondescript way, beckoning us to stop whatever we're doing & get down to it. It's a fragrance I can't quite identify, swirling tantalizingly, as I wonder what the hell words could possibly be called for as my head swims in nuances of aroma? The feeling of impossibility as we try to find some novel way to convey these relentless whiffs that come over us. Your delicious poem sent me on a reverie, clearly, & I thank you for that launch (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
