Psithurism* - A Wind-song

Such delight to hear
the sound of wind in the trees,
whispering its song.

* Psithurism: A long forgotten word that describes the restorative sound of wind blowing through the trees.  From the Greek ψιθυρίζω (psithurizō)  "I whisper"

Note - In view of the post-modern thoughts of today, very few souls will still take the time to listen to the song of the wind in the trees.

I listen and often to the wind blowing through trees. I have silver birches outside my window, love their whispering and chatter. Thank you for the lesson. That's a new word for me. Windsong was also the name of a boat that we once owned. Your title drew me in. I was pleased to pay a visit.

As you probably recall, I've lived in the wilderness for 10 yrs & the AIR is one of the main reasons I love open space. There's a huge difference when you can feel all the natural nuances of the constantly changing air every day all day long in unobstructed mnts. Interestingly, Covid is an attack upon our ability to process air, so there's a deeper significance in extolling air as you do in your straightforward haiku. Always love being turned on to new words! Great way to celebrate words (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
