the part of my whole

the part of my whole

A Poem by Hannah Berry
"

wrote this within 2 minutes of sitting down and opening my journal. i like it.

"
and it’s in that moment that i

question everything that i am,

every part.

the part of my wistful soul that invisibly lingers

around his presence,

even still.

the part of my mind awake at 3 a.m. burning

like a wildfire in the

dark.

the part of my heart buried

deep in the vast earth, waiting to be

watered.

the part of my breath that’s escaped

my lips, and polluted every place

i’ve ever

been.

the part of myself that i

left behind without

breadcrumbs to retrace my

steps.

the part of my everything that makes me

the whole of my

scarred and flawed

being.

I generally don't enjoy love poems penned by younger authors, because most of them appear to be disheveled diaries of a fifth grader but you have a great talent. I really really dig this poem. Your placement of puncuation especially pleased me. I think you should write more like this, and also explore other feelings besides love. I know you can do great with anything!

Yet another wonderful piece! I loved it, you're very great with word placement and the emotion in your work is always tangible

thank you so much :)
Well done! Personally, I am a bit OCD about capitalization (I'm an English teacher, go figure...) but you make that work in a piece like this. Well-placed punctuation, good flow, great imagery.
