"an insult to be beautiful," a commentary on the hypocrisy of attention

an insult to be beautiful,

only looked at first

not given the time or energy,

to see what else there is

though if to be judged so shallow,

why want the attention

of the one who did you wrong?

to think it is normal,

to be so vain that people should care

about what a shell holds

you are so smart, so brave

to be upset that our attention is not held captive

a victim, a pariah

when finally noticed
