Left behind you cant survive

Left behind you cant survive

A Poem by jamykinns

~ Don't get left behind~

rain showers with thunder roaring all around.
emotionless, I sit alone trying not to drowned.
clouds darken, my soul is awake.
This town is like an earth quake.
it brings you up, it drops you low.
we all just wait for God to show.
endlessly, we all pray.
that God will take us all home some day.
will you be ready for when he is to arrive?
left behind you can't survive.
his love surrounds us like the suns heat.
I will be ready when we meet.
rain showers, thunder roars.
Lord take me with you when you open the doors.

I'm not religious, but this poem is really powerful. Might actually be my favorite from you. Your lines flowed beautifully and the words had impact. It started out so melancholy--I could see the rain and feel the thunder--and it quickly became something beautiful, like seeing the sun pierce through the storm clouds and beam its rays of light down through your window. The only line that got me was the second. Using the word "emotionless" just didn't fit. Maybe you changed your direction after you wrote the first two lines or maybe you just need to expand to explain why it is that you're feeling emotionless in the face of God. Minus that one discrepancy, I really do love this poem.
