Seasons

Seasons

A Poem by smurfett

I was born up north where the air gets cold
Mid Michigan to be precise.
The summers are hot, the winters are cold
Spring and fall are usually quite nice.

Now I live in Florida.....where you must be
part reptile to even survive.
To live near the water and have constant a/c
It's a must just to keep you alive.

It's summertime now, it's one hundred degrees
And that's if you're standing in shade.
It's too hot to stay out, too sunny to go in
So let's make some iced lemonade!!

Sit back, relax, enjoy the day
Use sunscreen to minimize the burn.
Once you've been out in the Florida sun
It's a lesson that's very soon learned.

Come fall I'll go back, visit family and friends
The air will be crisp and cool.
Things will be back to normal again
The kids will return to school.

It'll be hard to come back, to get on that plane
Who knows when I'll see them again.
But for now I'll just wait, I have 3 months to go
Starting now, the countdown begins!!

I like how you show the contrast between the north and south ( Michigan and Florida ) where you were born and raised and where you reside now and all the features of both places. Marvelous...:)

I've heard about Florida and its heat. I have relatives down there and I'll visit, but I don't want to live there. Sometime the grass is always greener until we've walked through its heat. ha Good poem.

anytime...
A very nice journey down the road of life, or at least a piece of it. It's weave takes us into the highs and lows of some very relateable everyday and yearly events. I like that about this piece. It's got a homey feel to it's beat.
This line.... "It's too hot to say out, too sunny to go in" I believe you meant "stay out" ?
Twas the only little oops I spotted. =)
I know full well the flavors of temperatures you describe. I've been in Michigan summers and winters and Florida's drenching heat... with a broken A/C no less, as well as it's bountiful colors and shades of spring and green. I'll take florida over Michigan any day! lol
Thanks for sharing your ink! It was well crafted!
