Float

Float

A Poem by Wendy Sue

A hollowness swallows me, dark, deep and still.
Lips parted open, the fluid thickness fills.

Fading, distant light to my right, open sea to my left.
Bound to this vessel, consumed by diffidence and regret.

I sink down in my dingy, concede to the current, it's in charge.
Disoriented, frustrated, for me, it navigates like a barge.

Eyes, mouth closed, sucking in
dispair with my nose.
No more shorelines ahead, aimless floating, my vessel goes.

Simply poignant. That sense of a grief deeply etched in each line
