When Family Becomes Just a Word

When Family Becomes Just a Word

A Poem by C.C. Marx
"

First poem in awhile, so I'm a little rusty. Recently I had a nasty fight with my brother and things were said, lines were crossed.

"
Cringing at the hateful words
Strung together from ignorance
Temporary blanks of mind
That make the insults justified
Four simple letters
With power to shatter hope
Turn happiness to heartbreak
In the twitch of lips
The subconscious decision
To choose what stings most
The internal pride
That forces it out in spite
The blood in our veins
Calls for no special privileges
But instead warrants guilt
When damage has been done.

My pleasure...:)
some things you can forgive but most words you never forget.

Emotionally charged but...feels disjointed, as if in a shuffled sequence - to me. Too intentionally vague I think, possibly done to draw upon reader empathy?
