A Poem by Alexandra

I’m the last thing in your head
Maybe the toxic memory
That fizzles before it skips to the next neuron synapse
But here I’ll write everything that way we’ll never forget:

Pine grove drives with our favorite sweaters
Burning those same lyrics in our head after finding out the betrayal
Florida trip on the rooftop after my birthday
Smoke silhouettes after a long night drinking
Cozumel waters whispering “I Love You”
Records I bought with the last farewell letter
Rotting away in an attic room
Waiting for a sign from you
8 months later at a bar in our old car
We tied all the loose knots
“Will we ever speak again”
A laughter
And a slam of the door

Never to hear from you again
