Amygdala, I Can Hear You!

Amygdala, I Can Hear You!

A Poem by Alexandra

I write to preserve my patience
Lyrical words can not be expressed when all you care about is taking off garments
I leave it for 2 AM
When the door is shut
And your breath swallows all the air I have

I write to save myself
When you're gone by dawn
Reminding yourself that another night being half sober
Is better than being fully awake next to me

Dawn is the saving grace
Smoking cigarettes to keep my synapses firing
While you smoke weed to down the anxiety
Will never be on the same side of the coin
Will never love...

I'll always write to preserve myself from you
