Awake My Soul

Awake My Soul

A Poem by springy tart lemur
"

Dixon - 17/8/2012 Oh. Lord. What. A. Time.

"

Summer glow last into the night

Awake, my soul, sit bolt upright

Hear the dobro play and feel her touch

Did you ever think you could feel this much

Some nights blur like sea and sand

Others just slip through your hands

I’ll keep this one as long as I can

Yeah I’d be happy to do it again

Immortal, immortal

What I wouldn’t give

Oh Lord, just to live

Summer is calling and I must go

Mountains will fall and cities will grow

If ever we should meet as friends

Don’t tell me how the story ends

Immortal, immortal

What I wouldn’t give

Oh Lord, just to live

Reaching for the friendship now

We had one night in a big tent town

It’s faded into the moonlit grass

There’s no way to relive the past

Immortal, immortal

What I wouldn’t give

Oh, Lord, just to live

Don’t waste the future on the past
