The Division

The Division

A Poem by OtherWorldWoman

here, now

the feeling I pursue is absent in the existing world
at ease

encapsulated by sound waves with as little meaning as one desires

those that ‘own’ me, for today, do not

it’s subjective
tormented

entombed in a forced path taken day by day

I see the projection of myself walking these roads

years after my death
peaceable

contemplating the marriage that awaits me

the life that grows within me, within both of us, in its way

at heart we’ve been bonded for years
divided

our life, his love: fulfilling

much of it spent in a place that leaves me feeling ill

forced to part to be together
