Bedside Clown

Bedside Clown

A Poem by Squiggly at Night

He gave me my kisses,

Tucked me in tight,

Told me the monsters would not bite

But I wasn’t afraid of any bite

I was scared of what can be seen in the dark,

Not what can’t

What a buffoon

From then on, I closed my eyes

Eyes blind in light with a heart in the dark,

How is that supposed to work?

I was raised a man

Taught to watch out

Yet,

I was struck

 Tuck me in tight

Give me kisses,

Before I'm buried tonight

Short, but sweet. It paints a picture of someone lying in a coffin at their own wake, fully aware that they are dead and awaiting a dirt tomb. The family member standing there but offering very little comfort to the situation. However the character doesn't seem to be put off by their situation but rather seems to have accepted the reality of it all. I'm not sure if that's what you were going for but that's what was conveyed to me and art is always up for interpretation. Keep up the good work and know that you have a talent for this.
