All the Way Down

All the Way Down

A Poem by AMetaphoricalSoul

Time makes lonely souls
Turns hearts to stone
Erodes all hope
It weighs heavy on those who are alone
Who have no one to hold
Loneliness is cold
It crawls inside and makes a home
Chilling the bone
Feeding on the empty air of silence all around
Devouring all sound
Emptiness is feeling it all the way down
Being pulled into the ground
The silent darkness inside feels so very loud
Like a soundless shout
Felt from within but not heard from without
To only breathe is a bore
There was something better before
So let the air be a passage to something more
Or the plague of isolation will rot life to the core
