Gaining hope

This is a poem I did for a project at school. This is in the perspective of my explorer that was chosen for me. This isn't my best work, but I hope you guys enjoy it! :D Oh, and La Balle is a ship.

Like a wave crashes the shore,

Violent winds scraped across my face.

And like a dog protects her pups,

I will protect my men.

Burr,

Burr,

Two men dead;

Frozen solid.

The others,

Safely made it to a warmer place.

White,

White,

Boom.

La Balle sank.

Too cold,

Too dark,

And too risky to figure out why and how.

All we could do was wait,

And hope.

Until somehow,

All of this would pass.

Tik,

Tok,

Three more men,

Gone.

Their deaths?

Unknown.

Could be illness,

Could be starvation.

But at this point,

None of that really mattered.

All that mattered,

Was surviving.

And keeping warm.

Shiver,

Shiver,

Like meteors from the sky,

Snow continues to fall,

Landing on men.

Supplies,

And our two other ships.

Tear,

Tear,

All hope was lost.

Many believed

That tomorrow was our last day.

To live.

To love.

To cry.

The last day,

Before we all die.

Snore,

Snore,

Chirp,

Chirp,

Birds started to sing.

That’s when I knew,

The storm had passed,

And that everything was going to be okay.

We cheered,

Celebrated,

And continued our journey,

With hope.
