Conflict

Conflict

A Poem by S. Thompson

Tears gather and fall down my cheek
Watching the news any day of the week
The world has gone mad and our future is bleak
Burning it down for the justice we seek

But every cop isn't bad yet each one is blamed
Not every black person deserves to be maimed
Injustice is where our anger should be aimed
But more prejudice form and a new group is framed

The circle of violence is getting so old
Where love for each other isn't easily sold
Hearts filled with grief turn angry and cold
Abuses on each other become the new mold

Is it possible to find a new peace?
When the war on each other seems to only increase
Death and destruction become centerpiece
Now we turn our prejudice towards the police?

Punishing them all for the actions of few
Sounds familiar like something we often go through
We should stop repeating the same history or two
Learn to love one another in a new view

Being judged for the crime we individually commit
Not for other's mistakes that they will emit
The blame game goes nowhere if it doesn't fit
To the hateful among us is our conflict.
