Water's Edge

Water's Edge

A Poem by Eli Blayze
"

This is a sonnet I had to write in 8th grade. This was my first sonnet. Enjoy and try to look deeply into the symbolism.

"

Water is moving all around the boat,

Darkness is coming and there is no light.

Movement is out there; please keep me afloat.

I am alone throughout the wretched night.

I can hear the orcas singing their song,

Splashing water while diving up and down.

Calling on my faith, I have to stay strong,

Weeping with tears all I can do is frown.

Thoughts of my life, rushing through my head,

There is no savior out there to help me.

Hope I can see how they feel when I’m dead,

Will brightness show me through the deep dark sea?

I see myself as a small child ashore,

Could I change, if I got to live once more?

Awesome imagery in this piece, great flow on the rhythm and rhyme. Frightening how vulnerable life can make us feel at times but fortunately these feelings for most are not plentiful. Good pen ~Grace~
