Fact or Fiction

Fact or Fiction

A Poem by KAREN

Knock on wood twice.

Cross your fingers.

Say a prayer,

read on if you dare.

13 a symbol of death.

Judas, 13th guest at the last super.

It is said Christ was crucified this day.

The devil's day,

stay home or beware!

Black cats are mysterious.

Witches companion are they.

Stay clear and cross not their path,

or bad luck will follow you.

Open ladder makes a triangle shape.

Walking under, tempting fate,

evil spirits you'll awake.

Broken mirror on the floor.

Reflection all in pieces,

actual soul releases.

7 years bad luck you must endure

Protection from the sun umbrellas can do,

and keep you dry when rain arrives.

Open inside death you'll find.

Spilt salt, many grains,

alot of tears will be shed.

Misfortune will happen,

but something you can do.

Quickly throw some over your

left shoulder to ward evil away.

Bad luck happens,

but good luck can too.

Heres a list to help you!

Horse shoes are a lucky symbol

Rabbit's foot in left back pocket

              Four leaf clover

   Coin found on heads

Itchy left plam will bring you money

Are all these myths?

Or mystical wanders waiting to happen?

Just in case I quote.......

Star light star bright

First star Iv'e seen tonight

I wish I may I wish I might

have this wish I wish tonight

Tell me what you think! Just something fun to write about, but not sure if it's written well. I wrote and rewrote it, so you tell me about it! For the record I don't believe any of this . I just wanted to write about it!

I believe in one thing of luck and mystery only. Don't bother the dead. Show respect and leave them where they lay. Many myths are believed still. I believe we make our luck good or bad. I like the many examples in the poem. Nice to wish on the first star. Maybe the wish may come true. A excellent poem. Kind of poem to make you think.

I have heard a lot of superstitious belief, but none of them I have read on a poem. This is my first time. And my first time is really fun! I enjoyed reading this. Good job!

I love how you drift through all of the superstitions - I also love the rhyme at the end! very well put together! great poem!

This is cool. It makes me wonder why we seem to need these things
to be complete. Superstition seems to be a part of humanity.

Well first let me say the poem by itself is awesome, I loved it. Nice flow, nice arrangement and delivery. Okay now to the fun part and the question asked.

To me the above are both and it all depends on the person. It is like faith, if you give it power than it will be so, if you believe in these things than you give them power to be, it all comes from within us in the first place. Now if you don't believe in any of these then there is no power given to them to even exist. Just my thoughts.
