Day Care Blues

Day Care Blues

A Poem by KAREN
"

For the creative poetry group.

"

Days full of surprises.

Adventurous kids running,

playing and carefree.

Spills of laughter,

sometimes crying,

other times anger

ring in my ears.

My symphonic class

stress me out at times.

Anxiety travels down my neck.

Exhaustion entertains my

boundle of nerves.

Energy burst from

child to child.

My mind cluttered with questions.

I wish to change my name.

Angelic faces smile,

innocent eyes glare.

Demon horns are hidden.

Kids running a monk,

pretenious, and a mind

of their own.

I say, "sit down." They stand.

I say, "walk." They run.

My wishes are not theirs.

Voice of the teacher

fall on deaf ears.

Metallic tone catches

rambunctious  little peoples attention.

Wild eyes and mouths wide

stare at me with,

"what did I do?"

Anger is an inferno,

counting to ten is useless.

Prayers are heard, but answers

are like the blank faces I look at.

Time drags like my butt.

Unearthly tantrums,

tattletales,

fighting.

List is always growing.

The day is always full of tomorrows,

it's a never ending story of my life.

Working with children would be a constant stress on mind and thoughts. Kids are always thinking. Not good thoughts mostly. I like the description of the daycare. Would need patience of a saint to work with many children. I like the ending to the excellent poem.

This makes me glad I don't work in a daycare. My sister does work in daycare and you have just explained many of the day to day adventures she goes through.

Spending time with kids, there's never a dull moment, or a moment when something isn't happening even when nap time comes. Wonderful and delightful poem!

Enough to make anyone tired. My great grandmother was a elementary school teacher who started teaching in 1918 or 1919 in a one room school house. Schools were very different by the time she retired in the early 1970s. She loved teaching, she loved the kids. They make you tired but they are worth it. Nice job on this poem.

wheeeeeeeew Im so tired, lol
The imagery was wonderful , found myself standing in a corner out of the way at a daycare full of kids, just watching. Watching them run amonk, tattaling, playing, etc. Oh I even seen a few with wings and then some with those lil horns.
What an awesome piece.
I felt the stress of it all.
