Hidden In Plain Sight

Hidden In Plain Sight

A Poem by StormeLight

My fingers hit the keys

At first I am alone

Music coming out of my solitude

The pain of a past unspoken

In a home where only happy is allowed

Show any fear or pain, be disemboweled

The notes capture my sorrow

Of tears I am never allowed to cry

They hear only beauty

Pain hidden in plain sight

Chaos in it's perfection

So perfect it's wrong

As I write and I write each song

My soul aching for relief

Of pain that I am never allowed to see

The smiles plastered on my face in daytime

To hide the shame of abuse

Tell me loved ones,

Because I don't understand what more there is to lose

So I play my solemn notes

An honor to the pain I feel inside

Because now there is a safety

Being hidden in plain sight
