A Poem by Sarah
"

I wrote this after I learned about the Civil War.

"

The sun is hot

The wind is dead

The silence is too loud

The breath is too ragged

Why do we fight?

Most are only boys

Some are only men

But once they pull the trigger

They become something else

Why do we kill?

The call is given

The screaming starts

The silence is broken

And the men and boys have gone

So it begins

The green grass is red

The blue eyes are black

And in the place of the soldiers

There is something else

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death”

They kill

They fall

They run

They die

“I will fear no evil.”

The moon is bright

The wind is cold

The silence is taken away by crying

By the ragged breath of a soldier

“Home”

He says in a dying breath

Home

He wishes in his heart he could go

Home

Why do we fight?

Why do we kill?

Questions that I can’t answer

Who can?

And the soldier

Who couldn’t answer it himself whispers

Home

And to heaven he goes

A place where the heart is filled with happiness

A place called home.

There are lots of questions in this damn world that just can't be answer any ways, though there answers are merely something but the question's tone is just too strict that can't be answer. This poem is just one of the questions. Easy to answer but still one can't. . "Why - don't know" . . this poem is excellent, I can reach the height and value of your thoughts and words. They are just beautiful - alive - breathing. :) :) Well done Sarah, I must say. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

That was an amazing poem. The answers to the poem might not be in sight yet, but we may just find out. That is my favorite verse in the Bible Sarah. That was amazing.

Actually, there really weren't any grammar problems that I saw... This is so haunting. You have faced the reader with some extreme questions, forcing us to read on... And it makes this poem so beautiful. Well done.

Why do we fight I can't tell you....why do we kill? who really knows. The answer I guess in wars. We have frredom without fighting or killing we probably wouldn't have a free country let alone a free soul. I can feel what you are saying, well done!
