Sailor's Delight

Sailor's Delight

A Poem by Shauna

Violent ultraviolet rays

That gut and gouge and mutilate,

They'll douse the gloaming in

A bloodflood of vermillion.

When prism edges cut like knives

I'll spill amidst the eventide,

Leave ruby smears to mesmerize,

For such loveliness gladly I'll agonize

All this I'd withstand for

A rosewater downpour

Drenching the entranced

With idyll and romance.

In this heliolithic sacrifice

For an evanescent paradise,

Eager, I'll be torn asunder

To be another's nightly wonder.
