Page 1

1.1

A public bus goes through a small, kinda s****y neighborhood.

1.2

Don sits in his seat, head pressed against the window, thinking about life and stuff.

1.3

The bus slows to a stop

1.4

Don exits the bus

1.5

Don approaches his small home. A lone, tall, skinny figure stands at the bottom of the stairs to the front door. (it’s one of those houses that rises up a little).

1.6

Over the figures shoulder, looking to Don. The figure’s wearing a suit and no hair. His left arm is resting on the rail to the stairs.

Page 2

2.1

The front door to Don’s house.

2.2

Don has his hand to his head, as if he has a headache.

Don: “This is a load of horseshit.”

2.3

Don’s father and the man in the suit sit opposite of Don on a couch.

John: “Donny!”

Man in suit: “Given your disposition towards the supernatural, I can understand your skepticism.”

2.4

Don hangs his head in mild frustration, hand raised to quiet the man.

Don: “Oh, don’t do that.”

Man: “Do what?”

2.5

John and the man sitting on the couch. John is angry and the man is indifferent.

John: “Will you just give Azazel a chance!?”

Don: “Oh, like you believe any of the s**t he’s saying!”

John: “Listen to me, you little jackass--”

2.6

Close on Azazel, about to explain some stuff.

Azazel: “Jonathan Stroyer, restrain yourself. Donovan, I can assure you I speak only the truth.”

Page 3

3.1

Wide shot. Don in his chair on the left, the couch on the right. Everyone is in the shot.

Don: “Oh, is that right.”

Azazel: “Yes.”

Don: “You can ‘assure’ me that Satan escaped--”

Azazel: “Lucifer was released. His crimes forgiven.”

3.2

Don sits in his chair, slightly laughing.

Don: “Heheh. Ok, so now that he’s out and gone, you want me to replace him as head demon?”

3.3

Side shot of Azazel, looking basically dead eyed at Don.

Azazel: “Essentially.”

3.4

Don gets angry.

Don: “This is completely f*****g ridiculous.”

John: “Hey, he ain’t lying!”

Don: “This is basic f*****g cult stuff!”

3.5

Over Don’s shoulder pointing to Azazel.

Don: “He can’t prove any of this s**t!”

3.6

Over Azazel’s shoulder now, looking at Don.

Azazel: “Proof?”

Don: “Yes!

Azazel: “Very well.”

3.7

Azazel snaps his fingers on his right hand.

Page 4

4.1

Almost full page shot of a portal opening in the archway to the living room. It appears like a black hole, complete blackness in the center.

4.2

Don stands up suddenly, knocking his chair over.

4.3

Azazel looks to Don, head tilted in question.

Azazel: “Is this sufficient?”

Page 5

5.1

Don begins to walk towards the portal, hand outstretched to touch the portal.

5.2

He gets very close to it, but doesn’t actually touch it. We can see his breath as he speaks.

Don: “Jesus, it’s cold.”

5.3

Don looks up to the portal in wonder. He holds his hands together, trying to warm up.

Azazel: “Yes. I suppose it is.”

5.4

Azazel starts to stand up off the couch, Don begins to look back to him.

Azazel: “Well, Jonathan, Donovan and I should be taking our leave now.”

Don: “What?”

John: “Yeah, alright.”

5.5

Don walks over to his overturned chair while Azazel and John talk. Azazel’s back is to Don.

John: “Hey, before you go, don’t forget the uh--”

5.6

Small panel of Don grabbing his chair.

Page 6

6.1

Don breaks the chair over Azazel’s back.

Azazel: “AAGH!”

6.2

Azazel is bent over on the couch, John begins to rise to Don, enraged.

John: “The f**k you think you’re doing!?”

6.3

Don picks up the broken leg of the chair, getting ready to fight.

Don: “I am NOT going into fucked up demon portals or whatever the f**k--”

6.4

John grabs Don’s empty hand and starts to wind up a punch.

John: “You stupid little s**t!”

6.5

Don is punched straight in the face, sending him the the ground. John is , as you can imagine extremely pissed.

John: “You are not ruining this for me!!”

Page 7

7.1

Don kicks his father in the knee, causing him to buckle.

John: “Arrgh!”

7.2

Don starts getting back up, smacking John across the face with the wooden leg.

7.3

Don begins to stand up again, wiping blood from his lip.

7.4

Azazel presses his hand down on Don’s shoulder (he’s mostly off-panel).

Azazel: “Donovan...”

7.5

Azazel now begins to radiate black flames, eyes filled with darkness.

Azazel: “Stop fighting your responsibility!”

7.6

Don tries to kick Azazel to get rid of him. Azazel maintains a firm grip.

Don: “F**k you!”

Page 8

8.1

Azazel pulls Don in close.

Azazel: “I’m starting to get tired of this Donovan.”

8.2

Sparks of the same black fire begin to appear in Don’s eyes.

Don: “Will. You. Stop.”

8.3

Don twists Azazel’s arm off of his shoulder.

Don: “F*****g.”

8.4

While still twisting Azazel’s hand, Don punches Azazel in the stomach.

Don: “Calling me that!”

8.5

The edges of the portal begin to flicker and distort.

8.6

Azazel hunches over on the ground, Don starts to look down at his hands, scared.

8.7

Close on Don looking down at his hands.

Don: “How...?”

Page 9

9.1

On the ground, John starts picking himself up again.

9.2

John tackles Don (poorly).

John: “AAAAHHHH!!!”

9.3

Don begins to slip into the portal as John rolls off of him.

9.4

Don looks out of the portal, wide-eyed and terrified.

9.5

Azazel: looks to the portal in dread and shock.

9.6

John is just surprised.

9.7

Don is now fully engulfed in the portal.

9.8

The portal disappears.

Page 10

10.1

Azazel stands first. John is still picking himself up.

10.2

Azazel walks towards where the portal used to be, disbelief coloring his face.

Azazel: “S**t.”

10.3

John picks himself up and starts walking to Azazel.

10.4

Azazel puts his hands on his head, running his fingers through nonexistent hair.

Azazel: “*sigh*”

Page 11
11.1

Big shot of where Don has now landed. Open desert, sun setting, next to a road and road sign.Sign reads: Las Vegas: 73 Miles, Bellwick: 3 Miles.

Azazel (Box): “S**T!”

11.2

Don, bruised and dazed from his experience, begins to pick himself up.

Don: “Ugh...”

11.3

He looks up toward the sign.

11.4

Close up of the sign so we can read it.

11.5

Don leans to look past the sign toward a town down the road.

Don: “Bellwick...”

11.6

He looks off into the sunset.

Don: “S**t. Well...”

11.7

He starts making his way into town.

Don: “...Sure as hell not going back home.”

Azazel (Box): “He’s gone.”

Page 12

12.1

Azazel rubs his temples, a headache coming on, John is a little confused.

John: “The hell you mean ‘he’s gone’? That f****n’ portal thing went to Hell, didn’t it?”

Azazel: “That’s what I intended, yes. *sigh* However, Donovan - he - and I have no idea how - he managed to overpower me. I no longer had control over where that portal spat him out.”

12.2

Azazel pulls his phone from his pocket, about to make a call.

Azazel: “Although...It’s more than likely he ended up near one of the outskirts. That’d help narrow it -”

John: “Hold up. You saying he beat you? Is-is he stronger than you, now?”

12.3

Azazel starts to dial.

Azazel: “I have no idea. None of this was supposed to happen. I need to track him back down immediately.”

12.4

Azazel turns the corner to get to the door. John is standing in the room, kinda freaking out.

John (whisper): “Oh shitfuck. Shitfuck shitfuck shitfuck!”

12.5

Azazel comes back to talk to John, just remembering something.

Azazel: “Oh, I’ve almost forgotten!”

Page 13

13.1

Azazel, phone to his ear waiting for the call to go through, pulls a card out of his jacket and holds it out for John.

Azazel: “Here you go, Jonathan.”

13.2

John holds up what looks like a credit card in his name.

Azazel: “Don’t spend too much at one time. Might raise some suspicions.”

13.3

Azazel pulls his cell from his ear. They clearly didn’t pick up.

Azazel: “D****t! Any other time but now!”

13.4

Azazel opens a portal behind him while putting his phone away.

Azazel: “I hate when she does this.”

John: “Whoa, wait, hold on!”

Azazel: “Yes?”

13.5

John begins to look worried and desperate.

John: “If...if he’s stronger than you guys, and - and he comes back here for me - “

Azazel: “Comes back for you?” Why would he do that?”

13.6

Azazel enters the portal and begins his exit.

Azazel: “If everything works out, you’ll see him in Hell.”

13.7

John stands alone, card in his hand. He knows he’s in deep s**t.

Azazel (Box): “Hmmm...On second thought, that may actually be worse.”

Page 14

14.1

Back to Don. He’s made it into town now, holding onto his bruised arm as he walks. He passes a cafe with one of those awnings over two glass doors. The writing on top says “Glass Half Full”. The lights inside shine through the door.

14.2

He rounds the corner past the restaurant and looks down the alley, dumpster and all.

14.3

He moves a few things over.

14.4

Don puts his back to the alley wall.

14.5

He slides his back down the wall.

14.6

Don sits on the ground looking upward.

14.7

Same shot.

Don: “Great. Great f****n’ job, man.”

Page 15

15.1

Shot looking at the corner Don is sitting near. We see partway down the alley as well as the cafe. Lights are on.

15.2

Lights are off.

15.3

A man comes out of the cafe.

15.4

He locks the doors.

15.5

The man walks toward the alley (stairs to the apartments above the shop are right by the alley).

15.6

Don sneezes.

15.7

The man looks into the alley and sees Don. They make eye contact.

Page 16

16.1

The man is stepping closer to don, starting up the conversation.

Man: “Oh, hey.”

Don: “Hey.”

Man: “You ok, kid?”

Don: “I look ok, man?”

Man: “Honestly, you look kinda like s**t.”

Don: “Sounds about right.”

Man: “Kicked out of the house or something?”

16.2

Don looks down in thought.

16.3

He looks back up.

Don: “Or something.”

16.4

The man looks up to the apartment up the stairs, above the cafe. His hand on the back of his head.

Man: “Huh. Well, look, you need a place to crash or something? I got an extra room upstairs.”

16.5

Don gives him a suspicious look.

16.6

The man looks concerned now.

Man: “What?”

Page 17

17.1

Don begins to bring himself up off the ground.

Don: “You’d just - ugh - just let some kid on the street into your place? You’re either really naive or into some seriously creepy, serial killer type s**t.”

Man: “Well, I mean, you’re clearly in some kinda trouble. And...uh...”

17.2

Don is all the way up now.

Don: “And what?”

17.3

The man gives Don a very serious look.

Man: “And I can see what’s inside you.”

17.4

Don has a wide-eyed and creeped-out look on his face.

17.5

Same shot.

Don: “See, if that wasn’t some serial killer s**t right there, I don’t know what is.”

Page 18

18.1

The man puts his hands up in defense.

Man: “No! I mean, like, the darkness. There’s some seriously bad stuff in you.”

18.2

Don is now in thought.

18.3

He looks down at his hurt arm.

Don: “You might not be wrong about that.”

18.4

The man tilts his head, still concerned. Don continues to look down.

Man: “Look, I’m, uh, I’m sorry about saying all that weird stuff. You wanna just get inside? Talk in the mornin’?”

18.5

Don looks up to him now, a little sad.

Don: “Yeah. Alright.”

18.6

The man begins to unlock the door to go upstairs.

Man: “Oh, my names Mitch. Yours?”

Don: “Uh, Don.”

18.7

Close on Mitch’s hand as he begins to open the door.

Mitch: “Nice to meet ya, Don.”

Page 19

19.1

A door opens to an office-like area. A woman and a man are inside. The woman is behind the desk, doing work on the computer. The man sits in front of her, hands folded and in his lap. he’s slightly hunched forward.

Woman: “I get it. And you’re right, he’s a trouble case. But you’re going to have to find some way to get Geoff under -”

19.2

The man leans forward, angry and spitting words at the woman. Azazel walks through the door toward one of the chairs on the wall behind the angry dude.

Man: “He’s insatiable! I’m practically doing the work of five agents just to stop him from killing the waitress at the restaurant!”

19.3

The woman gets angry right back at the man. He’s taken a little aback.

Woman: “Abdiel, if you can’t get one vampire under control, then you don’t deserve to work here! Now stop making excuses and get. Him. Settled.”

19.4

Abdiel is about to make an objection.

19.5

Same frame. Abdiel looks defeated, head slumped over.

19.6

He gets up to leave.

Abdiel: “Fine.”

Page 20

20.1

Abdiel is heading toward the door to leave, Azazel gets up to get to Abdiel’s now unoccupied chair.

Azazel: “Abdiel.”

Abdiel: “Azazel.”

20.2

The woman and Azazel wait for Abdiel to leave the office.

20.3

Azazel pulls the chair out to sit in it.

Azazel: “You’re looking well, Lilith.”

20.4

Lilith begins to rub her temples.

Lilith: “No, I look f*****g exhausted.”

20.5

Azazel mildly agrees with Lilith.

Azazel: “Ah.”

20.6

Same shot, Azazel looks away.

20.7

Same shot. He looks back with a question.

Azazel: “Was it Geoff again?”

Page 21

21.1

Lilith practically explodes in complaint and frustration.

Lilith: “It’s always f*****g Geoff!! When is it not!? He’s just a goddamn f*****g...S**t!”

21.2

Lilith leans back in her chair, eyes closed, trying to calm down.

Lilith: “Ugh. This f*****g job, Az. It’ll kill me.”

Azazel: “Funny.”

Lilith: “*sigh*”

21.3

Still leaning back, Lilith looks to Azazel.

Lilith: “So, what? Did you get him?”

21.4

Azazel stares at her with dead eyes.

21.5

Lilith leans forward, face buried in her hands.

Lilith: “Oh, for f**k’s sake.”

Azazel: “Unfortunately.”

Page 22

22.1

Lilith looks up to Azazel from her hands.

Lilith: “How?”

Azazel: “He beat me.”

22.2

Azazel crosses his arms and sits up in the chair.

Lilith: “Whaddo you--?”

Azazel: “He physically beat me.”

Lilith: “Well, how the hell d’he do that?”

22.3

Azazel looks off to the side.

Azazel: “I’m not sure. I never bestowed any of Lucifer’s power to him, yet he had it. A spark at least.”

Lilith: “Ah, s**t. The power must of migrated migrated to him when you got close enough.”

22.4

Azazel looks back to Lilith angry.

Azazel: “Did you know this would happen?”

Lilith: “I speculated, yes! Az, this is the first time we’ve ever done something like this! There is so much we don’t know!”

22.5

Azazel hangs his head slightly.

Azael: “Which is why I’m here. Donovan Stroyer’s whereabouts is something we don’t know.”

22.6

Lilith begins to use the computer at her desk.

Lilith: “*sigh* Alright, alright. How did he get away?”

Azazel: “I had opened a portal to Hell, but then I lost concentration once he overpowered me. He fell through it.”

22.7

She looks back to Azazel from her computer, asking a question.

Lilith: “So, he could essentially be anywhere?”

Azazel: “No. It’ll be somewhere with a higher concentration of supernatural power.”

Page 23

23.1

Lilith gets back on the computer.

Lilith: “Ok, so that narrows it down to Hell, Heaven, and about 100,000 outskirts. We’ve got our work cut out for us.”

Azazel: “Then let’s get started.”

23.2

Azazel begins to stand up to leave.

Lilith: “You wanna ask any angels for help? Maybe Gabriel?”

23.3

Azazel continues to stand and talk.

Azazel: “Donovan has power but not enough to make him stand out even in a small outskirt. He can’t track him any better than we can right now.”

23.4

Lilith works on the computer.

Lilith: “Ok. Right. How many do you want on this?”

Azazel: “About a hundred.”

Lilith: “Minimalist, huh?”

23.5

Azazel manages a small grin as he exists.

Azazel: “Sounds like me, yeah.”

Page 24

24.1

Don, eyes wide in his new bed. He can’t sleep, too much to think about.

24.2

Silhouette from his window. he’s lying down.

24.3

Same shot. He sits up.

Don: “*sigh*”

24.4

Same shot.

Don: “S**t.”

24.5

His bedroom door opens so he can enter the hallway.

Page 25

25.1

He opens the fridge for something to eat.

25.2

He opens the freezer on top.

25.3

He finds a oven pizza he can make.

25.4

He sets the oven while reading the side of the box for instructions.

Don: “400...”

25.6

He crashes on the couch waiting for the oven to heat up.

Page 26

26.1

The box comes flying from behind the counter and right on his head.

Woman (off-panel) : “Hey, dipshit!”

26.2

Don looks over the back of the couch to see who threw it. A woman with blonde hair tied into a ponytail. Arms folded and angry at Don.

Woman: “Did I say you could use the oven?”

26.3

Don is a little confused.

Don: “Uh...I mean--”

26.4

Back to the woman, still irritated.

Woman: “No. No, I did not.”

26.5

Don starts to get off the couch to talk to her.

Don: “Sorry, didn’t realize I needed permission.”

26.6

The oven beeps now that it stopped preheating.

Woman: “You do when you wanna start baking s**t at 3 a.m.”

Page 27

27.1

Don’s over by the window now, looking all thoughtful and s**t.

Don: “Yeah, well it’s a little hard to sleep right now. Lottsa stuff on my mind.”

27.2

The woman puts the frozen pizza in the oven to cook.

Woman: “I know the feeling, kid.”

27.3

She looks over the counter to Don.

Don: “Heh. Don’t think you know much about how I’m feeling right now.”

27.4

The woman walk right through the counter all intangible-like.

27.5

She walks through the couch.

27.6

She sits down.

Page 28

Woman: “So, tell me about it, kid.”
