Before I provide you with bread,

                  let me know that you are hungry.

Before I offer you my riches,

                  let me know that you are poor.

Before I clothe you in royalty,

                  let me know that you are naked.

Before I impart my strength to you,

                  let me know that you are weak.

Before I show you my victory in battle,

                  let me know that you have surrendered.

Before I come to find you,

                  let me know that you are lost.

Before I fill you up,

                  let me know that you are empty.

Before I reveal my wisdom,

                  let me know that you are teachable.

Before I make you impenetrable,

                  let me know that you are vulnerable.

Before I soothe you with forgiveness,

                  let me know that you are sorry.

Before I break off your chains,

                  let me know that you are bound.

Before I help you,

                            let me know that you are helpless.
