By The Fire's Side

By The Fire's Side

A Poem by Holly

By the gloom of the fire
the shadows all do dance
But all else is still
At least at first glance

The faeries, they flit
And by the fires glow
Mischief gives way to cruelty
In a vintage pixie show

Across a hundred oceans
Yet another fire burns
A friendly group of hobbits
Spin yarns of times in churn

On a gently sloping hill
Hoards of dwarfs do dream
Roll closer to the flaming pine
Mind over lands unseen

Atop a misty mountain
Centaurs there do roam
But by the fire's blaze they find
A place to call their own

But, alas, here I must stay
Away from friends of old
The distance though is less
By the fire's side, I'm told
