Desert

Desert

A Poem by John Stussy
"

Written about the sunsets by my house, took the pic myself of one of them :)

"

Look around, admire with me

This rugged paradise I know.

Precious in so many ways,

But few stop to observe this gem.

It's the reward I get

After a long day's work.

Standing outside my home

With a cool glass of sweet tea,

I'll watch the sky explode

In gentle, harmonic peace.

Golden clouds burn and brand

A sky of pure rose quartz.

The sun crowns the western mountains,

Kings of the land before them.

A gentle desert breeze with a hint of sage

Mixed with mesquite's masculinity

Is the perfume of this land.

This is what makes the desert

My place,

My home.

I mostly avoid desert regions because of heat issues I have, but I have seen them and they are quite more beautiful than most people admit. Thank you for sharing, and reminding that beauty comes from everywhere.

Wow. Almost makes me want to come out and experience this arid grandeur for myself!
(and that's saying something mountains are my I.V. for life ;) )
I loved this one, it's the most expressive and effusive landscape ones you've done.
Marvelous work!!~P
