Sign of the Times

Sign of the Times

A Poem by Sue
"

I was rather political in the 80's...... :)

"

I see graffiti on the streets and on the walls

Politicians and their policies fall

People hate people and wonder why

The colour of your skin causes some to die

I see a mass of hurt and pain

Aims at peace but nothing gained

Weapons in the hands of men in power

Not the answer do I see in a nuclear shower

I see thirst and hunger, depression and recession

Morals and ideals don’t give a good impression

I can’t see clearly through my view

Obscured by blackness, and a grimy, dirty hue

We all look hard but the answer cannot find

Although it should be clear to a human mind

It’s peace, love and freedom sublime

So don’t tell me it’s just a sign of the times
