Words

Another poem I wrote when quite young so once more a little immature in the writing, but I tried to say how I felt as best I could at the time....

A word is but a word

Expresses nothing expresses all

Shows love, joy, pain

All feelings felt inside

 

The anguish of a heart broken in two

The hate and scorn of all things wrong

The love between two people, a joy in itself

A teacher and pupil communicate

 

Words destroy and rebuild

Tell hate and love

With the same tongue are uttered each

Causing disaster or saving a soul

 

Words should be controlled

Not banded around

Used in better things, not war

They are not weapons nor should be used so

 

Words should join not drive apart

Build relationships, join lands and all

Trying to help like words should do

Is the most important thing for world unity

In reading, I look for the message, for that's what matters most. I see no immaturity in this, but only wise words with important meaning. Words can hurt or they can build, and we should always be mindful of that.

Sue, without words we could not express the love we have for others, or say sorry when we cause pain.

Love this poem, words are such a powerful tool. Unbeknown to us sometimes, our words have a dramatic impact on others, like you say, those words should bring unity
