Keep Her Letters, Let Her Go

Keep Her Letters, Let Her Go

A Poem by December Blaize
"

Sometimes goodbye is the only way.

"

When the final song of the soundtrack faded out
We hung onto those bittersweet last notes,
Not wanting to believe our inability to shout
Was anything but paranoia caught in our throats.

But colors fade and people have no choice but change,
So why should we even try to stay the same?
If I wanted to gaze at memories all day I'd rearrange
The pictures on my walls and put you in a frame.

This washed-out little town's got nothing left for me,
I don't belong here and I'm not bound,
It was long ago I gave up believing in things I can't see
But I believe love can't be lost if it's truly been found.

I'd rather watch the sunrise from a different window
Than be stuck here with the ghosts of yesterday;
You can beg and plead and cry but I'll still go
Because leaving is the part of life that lets us find a way.
