PICNICS

PICNICS

A Poem by michael
"

This is a poem of a picnic setting.

"

Yellow sunshine streaming

Down and swept o'er turquoise blades

Swaying from light breezes,

Trees waving salutations

And question their direction -

The red and white mats

Flap lazily under parched

Bamboo baskets .....

Green, red and purple fruits;

Meats and drinks and spreadables,

Jars of short and fat paste;

Taste the tall, round ones,

Green with black eyes bulging;

Pleasantries; feasting while

Smiles of children mulching

The fields flat until hunger

Stops them dead in their tracks,

And the meals without the wheels

Are set forth before the ants -
