The Prayer of the Survivor

The Prayer of the Survivor

A Poem by Siren

Now I lay my wants to rest,

The weight of care upon my chest.

I promptly pine for clarity,

A remedy for this tragedy.

If we must die before we wake,

What measures, then, are we to take?

Live on in love and share our sorrow,

Ever hoping for brighter tomorrow.

And when body and soul are rent apart,

May survivors endure with comforted heart.

Author's Note

Siren
A poem I wrote in response to the loss of a senior nursing major at my school. She was loved by many, and is incredibly missed. May we survive the deaths of the ones we love with eventual peace and a heightened awareness of the fragility of life.
