Millennials

Millennials

A Poem by thuthana

another angst-filled attempt at self-awareness and social commentary. written a couple of years back

millennials are so f*****g annoying.
and yet, by some grace of a higher-being,
i am clumped into the stereotypical mold of a millennial.

what does it even mean to be a "millennial"?
addicted to buzzfeed, instagram, snapchat?
forever attached to our iphones (or androids, but i'm judging you) ?
losing all sense of reality,
option to reside in the dark webbings of the internet?
well damn! i may just be a millennial.

rocking plaid, cuffed jeans, and glass mason jar
-- calm down, i'm reusing it --
filled-to-the-brim with
over-priced, grass-fed, organic, non-GMO drink,
listening to some obscure artist
(checkout Iwan Rheon btw -- i don't expect you to know who he is)
i may just be a millennial.

take a break from the phone,
the keyboard,
stretch your fingers out a bit --
you don't want to get arthritis when you're older.
but, consider, just for a moment,
you, too, are a millennial.

feel free to tear this apart -- i welcome it.
the third stanza is a bit all over the place; but i didn't/don't have the attention span to fix it currently.
