How Can I So Deeply

How Can I So Deeply

A Poem by Susanna F

How can I so deeply love this man,

This mysterious, beautiful being beside me?

His concepts hold me spellbound

His anxieties are my own;

His high opinion is my lifeblood

And his vibrant visions my deliverance.

Through life’s unkind adversities,

Our love is the comforter of our distress.

This man, his mind and heart and soul

Are to me the axis mundi;

My knight of noble chivalry,

Perfect in strength and will -

Though mortal he be,

 None can touch his merest memory in my esteem.

Through him I am focused

Upon a new and limitless world.
