To a Magpie

To a Magpie

A Poem by Susanna F

Magpie, my dear friend

Black and white so deftly spun

Can you tell me why

Good and evil live as one?

Please explain to me

Why cruel dwells in the good

Why those I thought were kind

Do things they never should.

Please tell me why my heart

Can be so hurt and torn

Causing my own darkness

To emerge when I’m forlorn.

Magpie, can you tell me

What lies in the hearts of men?

Why both good and evil

Always plague us in the end?

This is an enchanted metaphor... this darkness and light always in a dance... strength and weakness we choose each day... Your confessions reveal the edge on which we all exist... So well expressed!
