Classic Nintendo

Classic Nintendo

A Poem by Amy Beth Storey

Today was a day for sweat pants;

cereal for lunch and oreos for breakfast.

It was a couch-potato, classic-nintendo day

Where she visits Zelda in her castle;

Where Mario could ride his dinosour.

Where Donkey Kong could beat alligators.

It was a Final Fantasy day,

followed by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Grip the square remote tightly,

Sewer fighting isn't comfortable.

A Saturday alone, and all you need is this.

This would be a perfect day. A excellent poem. We need a few days a year to be alone and be able to relax.

YAY!! This is perfect. I love this piece. I'm glad this is the first piece I read for my latest contest. This is so simple yet so great!! Very reminiscent of all my childhood summers. Love it. Thanks for always being a faithful contest enterer.

Maybe it's just because I'm a die hard classic gamer, maybe its because I really like the way you laid out your words, but I thought this poem was really great. I especially liked the beginning: sweat pants, cereal for lunch, oreos for breakfast . . . perfect! Great work!
