On The Edge

On The Edge

A Poem by Norma M Sutton

I'm on the edge of writing
On the edge of sleep
Images exciting
Call me from the deep

I'm on the edge of writing
Struggling against the rock
Ever onward fighting
As life's time tick tocks

I'm on the edge of writing
Wondering why I stop
Lines I am reciting
As to music I bebop

I'm on the edge of writing
Thought flowing across white keys
Yet nothing is exciting
As with blinded eyes I see

I'm on the edge of writing
As everyone can see
This writer's block I'm fighting
Is kidding only me

A very familiar and personal topic.writer's block to me is like rolling a rock uphill
The further I go up the heavier it becomes. However your description of it is one the best I have read in the café.thank you

Thank you :)
Many ways to defeat writer's block. I use the song of Leonard Cohen and P. J Harvey. Help me find the good words again. I understand the poem. Hard to want to write and can't find the words to come to life for us. Always a pleasure to read your work dear friend.

You are welcome.
It's the edge of sleep that does it for me. Sometimes, I wake several times and scribble a hasty line on the notepad I keep pretty much constantly by my side.

It doesn't always make sense in the morning, but it never stops me.

Beccy.
