212 - quietus

A Poem by Caitlin

innocence is something you are born with
it is something you get to keep
until you release it into the air
to fly away

it is different, however
when it is ripped from you
when it is stolen from your hands
and crushed with a steel-toed boot

they put an end to my innocence
and i can never get it back
