Soul Broken

Soul Broken

A Poem by Talia Renee
"

A poem about doubting God. (I'm a Christian, so it's a Christian poem.)

"

Breathe deep in, breathe deep out

Try to erase all the doubt

That fills my mind everyday

And makes me feel led astray.

Does He love me? Does He care?

Does He know I'm more than scared?

My life used to be in his hands;

Now I feel it's shoved right back.

Confused, betrayed, and broken

By lies- or truths?- always spoken.

Follow along wearing a mask,

Showing emotions from the past.

I used to feel His love around,

Now I listen and hear no sound.

I fear for my soul, fear for my life.

The dark is here, where is my light?

I reach for Him, stretching, gasping.

Always searching, never grasping.

I miss my best friend, the one I love.

I miss my dear God, up above.

Author's Note

I wrote this when I was going through a tough time and doubting God. After a lot of prayer and serious soul-searching, I realized how empty I am without God and re-affirmed my beliefs and was recently confirmed in my Catholic faith, a decision I proudly made on my own. (Yeah, I'm a bit of a Jesus freak!)

I enjoyed this poem mainly because I'm a huge Christian and live my life for God, too. So it was a good poem. I know exactly how it feels to lose your way for a while and how empty life really can be without Jesus in our lives. So I commend you for writing this and sharing it with the world. it was a great life.

Does He love me? Does He care?

These lines I think are the most asked questions or somewhere in the vicinity of it. I guess its good to question this just to learn that He really does.

BUT! I think what really touched me in this poem was your use of capitalization in He and God. Most people don't do that so I'm glad you did.

GREAT WRITE!! Must read more of your stuff. :)))

While I'm an agnostic, I do understand why losing faith in God would be a big problem for a Christian, being such an important part of your life. I think you portray this well in your poem and I'm glad you found your faith once more. :)

I normally have a hard time reading religious stuff, especially of a religion I do not belong to, but I already clicked on it so I figured I might as well try it. I actually enjoyed this story. Besides the fact that it was well written, it reminded me of me years ago. I didn't come to the same conclusion you did, though~
