Milk

Milk

A Poem by terry smith

She was a dime
doin time
like the girls on Sunset strip
be careful
what you wish for
this girl don't miss a trick
drives me insane
she's in my veins
this girl's got quite a grip
but I crave her
and I need her
she knows I am an addict
looking mean
is the seen
she hunt's you with her eyes
gives me chills
heart be still
'cause you know she can smell your lies
be careful
what you wish for
she will be your demise
you'll leave the zoo
without a clue
while the monkeys
claw your eyes
.....and the band plays

great improvisational feel here, ala beat poets. "Looking mean, is the seen" do you mean scene? I guess either way. My favorite part:

you'll leave the zoo
without a clue
while the monkeys
claw your eyes
.....and the band plays

As a musician, I can definitely relate. Punchy and entertaining prose here.

thanks for the catch I did mean scene...and thanks for the read
can't get attached, they won't let you...they appease a need but have a creed.
the beat of this and then the ending reminded me so much of The Temptations' song "Ball of Confusion"
And the speaker here seems to be just that.
the delivery of this piece works so well with the theme...addictive writing is what you deliver, Terry.
